Basketball Game Preview: Bell Gardens Lancers vs. Mark Keppel Aztecs

The Bell Gardens Lancers will head out on the road to face off against the Mark Keppel Aztecs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bell Gardens is headed into the game having just posted their biggest victory since November 23, 2024 on Friday. Everything went their way against Montebello as Bell Gardens made off with a 59-34 win. The Lancers pushed the score to 54-27 by the end of the third, a deficit the Oilers cut but never quite recovered from.

Meanwhile, Mark Keppel waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They walked away with a 54-42 victory over the Matadors. Given the Aztecs' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while the Matadors are ranked 714th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Mark Keppel is also on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.4 points per game. As for Bell Gardens, they moved to 6-10 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Bell Gardens was dealt a bruising 72-26 loss at the hands of Mark Keppel in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Bell Gardens avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
