Basketball Recap: Plainfield Starts Season with Victory Against Mccutcheon

Plainfield had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They skirted past the McCutcheon Mavericks 58-56. The Quakers have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Mavericks on Wednesday, too.

Hannah Menser was a one-woman wrecking crew as she shot 45% from the field en route to 21 points in addition to eight boards and three blocks. That's the most rebounds she has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Berkeley Williams, who put up 12 points.

When it comes to explaining why McCutcheon lost, don't look at Keara Lipscomb-Allen. Despite the final result, she scored 27 points and seven boards. Another player making a difference was Lillie Graves, who went 6-for-13 to rack up 15 points and seven rebounds.

Looking ahead, Plainfield will face off against Brownsburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for McCutcheon, they have already played their next game, a 66-58 win against Lake Central on the 8th.
