League recap: Western wins, gets boost in standings

Western was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fourth to first in 4A District 4. The Warriors defeated Valley 33-27 earlier in the week.

Fairdale and Moore played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Fairdale eventually emerging with a 42-40 victory.

Doss' offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jerry Coleman has thrown for 349 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Dajzon Dukes has 19 catches for 245 yards. James Yarbrough leads the league in rushing with 655 yards.

A big matchup in 4A District 4 this week will be when Doss takes on the Bulldogs. At the moment, the Dragons are in fourth, while Fairdale is in third.

Chris Engstrand's team led the league in scoring this week after putting up 42 points on the Mustangs.
