Volleyball Recap: South Comes Up Short

After flying high against Assabet Valley RVT on Wednesday, South came back down to earth. The Colonels fell just short of the Burncoat Patriots by a score of 3-2 on Friday. The Colonels were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

South wouldn't go down easily and took Burncoat into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking seven-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-17, 25-17, 17-25, 18-25, 15-8.

South dropped their record down to 6-5 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Burncoat, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-2.

Looking ahead, South will venture away from home to face off against Tantasqua Regional at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Burncoat, they will host Millbury at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
