Baseball Game Preview: Altamont Indians vs. Greenville Comets

The Altamont Indians will square off against the Greenville Comets at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Altamont took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They blew past Mulberry Grove 20-5. With that win, the Indians brought their scoring average up to 6.5 runs per game.

Carson Milleville made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Keegan Schultz, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April. Parker Bell was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Altamont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .683. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Greenville came tearing into Monday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.2 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They never let the Cavaliers get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory.

Greenville's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Altamont, their win bumped their record up to 16-6.
