Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Gibson Southern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gabby Spink, who went 6 of 15 en route to 22 points and five boards. Spink is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Taylor Weyer, who posted 11 points.
Meanwhile, Castle unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak last Wednesday. They took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of Evansville Central. The Knights were down 51-30 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Gibson Southern will need focus on slowing down Jordan Scott, one of several Castle players who made an impact when they last played. She went 6 for 15 on her way to 12 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Izabell Grantz, who went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points and five rebounds.
Gibson Southern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.4 points per game. As for Castle, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Gibson Southern has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 30.7 boards per game. However, it's not like Castle struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.8 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Gibson Southern suffered a grim 58-32 defeat to Castle in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Grantz, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.
