Baseball Recap: Apple Valley Comes Up Short

Apple Valley extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 5-12 in the process. They lost 16-9 to the Eagan Wildcats. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Wildcats earlier this season, when they won 6-1.

As for Eagan, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 9-12 record. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Eagan's part, Jackson Dwyer was incredible, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. Dwyer is becoming a predictor of the Wildcats' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-12 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Theo King, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apple Valley will welcome Hastings at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Eagan, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Two Rivers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
