Basketball Recap: Lucas Christian Academy Comes Up Short

Lucas Christian Academy won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Thursday. They took a blow against the First Baptist Saints, falling 58-26. The Warriors lost against the Saints in their previous head to head back in November of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 42-35 score last time.

First Baptist's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jett Stamps led the charge by going 7 for 15 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Rheams, who went 6 of 9 on his way to 12 points and six rebounds.

Lucas Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for First Baptist, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Lucas Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Mercy Culture Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for First Baptist, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 73-44 win against Calvary Academy on the 12th.
