Preview: Stratton Eagles vs. Fleming Wildcats
Two dominant backs in Cyler Notter and Wyatt Cochran are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Stratton Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fleming Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Stratton can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They really took it to Arickaree for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-6 win on the road. The victory was just business as usual for Stratton, who after eight games remain undefeated this season.
It was another big night for Notter, who picked up 85 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 83 yards on only eight carries. Another player making a difference was Drew Fox, who rushed for 91 yards and a touchdown.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Arickaree to a paltry 132 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Stratton's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out nine times before it was all said and done. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
Meanwhile, Fleming was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 39-35 to Briggsdale.
Stratton's victory was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 44.67 points. As for Fleming, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Everything came up roses for Stratton against Fleming in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 as the team secured a 83-18 victory. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Fleming's Blake Feather, who rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Stratton to walk away with another win? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
