Basketball Recap: Southland Academy Takes a Loss

Southland Academy was the 53-49 winner over Southwest Georgia Academy when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Southland Academy Raiders fell 62-51 to the Southwest Georgia Academy Warriors on Friday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Thad Beckley was a one-man wrecking crew for Southwest Georgia Academy as he went 7 of 12 on his way to 22 points and five assists. Those 22 points gave Beckley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Grayson Cox, who posted 14 points.

Southland Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Southwest Georgia Academy, they now have a winning record of 9-8.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Sherwood Christian Academy the next time they take the court. Southwest Georgia Academy will head out to face Sherwood Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 25th, while Southland Academy will head out to face them at 7:30 p.m. on January 28th.
