Soccer Game Preview: Apex vs. Holly Springs

Apex has won four straight games at home, while Holly Springs has won four straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Cougars will welcome the Golden Hawks at 6:30 p.m. Apex's last three games have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Things were looking good for Apex after they put the first goal on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Green Hope by a score of 2-1. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Apex came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 48th, while Green Hope are ranked 248th).

Apex's goal came courtesy of Eliana Butler, who's now up to seven this season.

Meanwhile, Holly Springs kept a clean sheet against Panther Creek on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Catamounts. Holly Springs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 contests by three goals or more this season.

Apex's loss dropped their record down to 10-4-3. As for Holly Springs, their win bumped their record up to 17-1.
