Basketball Game Preview: Merrol Hyde Magnet Hawks vs. Knowledge Academies

Merrol Hyde Magnet is headed into Monday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They lost to Jo Byrns at home by a 67-53 margin. The Hawks were down 67-45 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the defeat, Merrol Hyde Magnet got top-tier performance from Sam Mullins, who went 12 of 28 en route to 28 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. With that strong performance, Mullins is now averaging an impressive 15.5 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Potter, who posted seven points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Merrol Hyde Magnet was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Knowledge Academies can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They secured a 63-58 W over East Robertson.

Merrol Hyde Magnet better keep an eye on Sylvainus Cole Iv. He was instrumental in Knowledge Academies' win, going 11 for 21 on his way to 34 points. Another player making a difference was Travis Campbell, who had six points and ten assists.

Knowledge Academies' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-9. As for Merrol Hyde Magnet, their loss dropped their record down to 10-7.

Merrol Hyde Magnet won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, slipping by Knowledge Academies 52-51.
