Preview: Holy Innocents Episcopal Golden Bears vs. Southwest DeKalb Panthers

Holy Innocents Episcopal has enjoyed a five-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Southwest DeKalb Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Holy Innocents Episcopal's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.

Holy Innocents Episcopal proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 23) but on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Druid Hills and snuck past 68-66. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Caleb Wilson was his usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 23 points, 20 rebounds, and ten blocks. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last ten games he's played. Devin Hutcherson was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals.

Meanwhile, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Southwest DeKalb had to settle for a 53-51 defeat against Stephenson on Tuesday.

Holy Innocents Episcopal pushed their record up to 18-6 with that victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.9 points per game. As for Southwest DeKalb, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season.

Holy Innocents Episcopal strolled past Southwest DeKalb in their previous meeting last Wednesday by a score of 65-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Holy Innocents Episcopal since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
