Baseball Recap: Lake Nona Beats Poinciana for Their Third Straight Victory

With a playoff win on the line, Lake Nona rose to the challenge on Monday. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over the Poinciana Eagles. Winning may never get old, but the Lions sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Tanner Pielock looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Luke Ramsey was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Fabian Gavalo was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Lake Nona was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. The last time their batting average was this high was back in February of 2024.

Lake Nona's record is now 15-10. As for Poinciana, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Lake Nona will square off against St. Cloud at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Lions 3.7, the Bulldogs 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Poinciana does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
