Basketball Recap: Scott County Central Takes a Loss

Scott County Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Charleston Bluejays, falling 89-64. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Braves this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 76-45 back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Treshaun Schandon, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 12 boards, and nine assists for Charleston. With that strong performance, Schandon is now averaging an impressive 2.3 steals per game. Trenez Lane was another key player, going 7 for 14 on his way to 18 points.

Scott County Central's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Charleston, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season.

Scott County Central has already played their next contest (against Gideon), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Charleston will be taking part in a tournament against Massac County at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.
