Baseball Game Preview: Blind Brook Trojans vs. Mount Vernon Knights

The Blind Brook Trojans will face off against the Mount Vernon Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Blind Brook will be strutting in after a victory while Mount Vernon will be coming in after a loss.

Blind Brook took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Pawling by a score of 8-4.

Robberto Cuesta IV was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Elliott Zwicker, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Blind Brook is 3-1 when Zwicker posts two or more runs, but 2-8 otherwise. Chris Davis was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Mount Vernon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They lost 11-0 to Mamaroneck.

Blind Brook's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Mount Vernon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-7.

Blind Brook took their victory against Mount Vernon in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Knights have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
