District 10 Region 2 A recap October 1, 2013
Cambridge Springs extended the longest winning streak in District 10 Region 2 A this week by beating Union City, 30-6. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Iroquois made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 12,703 from 13,207. The improvement was largely due to a 18-12 victory over Maplewood last week.
Cambridge Springs' dynamic duo of Devin Walker and Kristofer Silbaugh proved to be unstoppable against the Bears, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Walker threw for 107 yards and Silbaugh had 58 yards receiving.
Garrett Adams provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Cochranton fell to Eisenhower. He completed 2 passes for 11 yards and also ran for 176 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, the Knights' Rob Wilston and Jarrett Johnson have proven to be a lethal combination. Wilston has thrown for 579 yards this season, while Johnson, a 6-foot-2 receiver, has 9 catches for 182 yards. Colton Noble from Clint Rauscher's team leads the league in rushing with 824 yards.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Cambridge Springs takes on second place Eisenhower. Last week, the Devils defeated Union City, while Eisenhower beat the Cardinals.
One of District 10 Region 2 A's premier quarterbacks will face off with its top pass rusher when James Penley Jr's team and Cambridge Springs face off next week.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Devils take on the Knights. Cambridge Springs has allowed 38 points this season, while Eisenhower has given up 119. The Devils allowed 6 points last week as they beat Randy Gunther's team.
Mercyhurst Prep led the league in scoring this week after putting up 48 points on Youngsville. Baer Eric ran for 172 yards in the win.
