Preview: Stover Bulldogs vs. Versailles Tigers
The Stover Bulldogs will finish 2023 at home by hosting the Versailles Tigers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Stover came up short against University Academy Charter and fell 39-31. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Stover has scored all season.
Stover's defeat came about despite a quality game from Ashlyn Pinzke, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and ten rebounds. Pinzke scored a full 71% of Stover's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hannah Bauer was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, Versailles' recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Monday after their third straight loss. They were outmatched by Vienna at home and fell 62-19.
Stover's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Versailles, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Stover didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Versailles in their previous matchup back in December of 2017, but they still walked away with a 54-48 victory. Will Stover repeat their success, or does Versailles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
