Baseball Game Preview: Desert Ridge Jaguars vs. Basha Bears

The Desert Ridge Jaguars will be taking part in a tournament against the Basha Bears at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.

Desert Ridge is headed into the match having just posted their biggest win since April 8, 2024 on Thursday. They were the clear victor by a 12-2 margin over Crismon.

Kelton Floan was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed four innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. He was even better at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Desert Ridge let Max Abalos and Mason Gamboa run wild. Abalos went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI, while Gamboa scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Dylan Taylor, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Basha had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past Mountain View 7-1 on Wednesday.

Basha also got a great performance from Zach Bolles as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk).

On the hitting side, Basha's victory was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Chase Chanley, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Desert Ridge came up short against Basha in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 9-6. Can Desert Ridge avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
