Waynesfield-Goshen extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Cory-Rawson Fighting Hornets. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Hornets apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2025.

Bronson DeWItt was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up five earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That RBI was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Turner Thompson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and three runs. Reed Waitman also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
As for Cory-Rawson, their victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. The win was some much needed relief for they as it spelled an end to their five-game losing streak.
On Cory-Rawson's side, Wesley Thomas spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Austin Inbody, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dom Moon, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs.
Coming up, Waynesfield-Goshen will be playing in front of their home fans against Lima Central Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Cory-Rawson, they will square off against Ada at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
