Volleyball Recap: Beecher Bobcats vs. Grant Park Dragons
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Beecher had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top against the Grant Park Dragons by a score of 2-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Bobcats also won the last time the pair played back in September.
Beecher easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The final score came out to 25-12, 25-20.
Emily Avelar paced Beecher's offense, picking up ten kills. Avelar got some help from
Ava Pattenaude and her 13 assists. Pattenaude was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.
Despite the defeat, Grant Park saw an underclassman step up: freshman Taylor Panazzo had six kills, six digs, and two blocks. The dominant performance gave Panazzo a new career-high in blocks.
Beecher is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 22-10 record this season. As for Grant Park, their loss dropped their record down to 10-17.
