Spruce Creek is a perfect 10-0 against New Smyrna Beach since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Hawks will take on the Barracudas in a tournament on Monday. The timing is sure in Spruce Creek's favor as the squad sits on six straight wins at home while New Smyrna Beach has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Spruce Creek will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Flagler Palm Coast on Thursday. The Hawks were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over the Bulldogs. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by seven runs or more this season.

Reese Cianciarulo made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Cianciarulo was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other pitching news, Erin Bozeman looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Alexis Minaberry, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Helms, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Spruce Creek was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Flagler Palm Coast only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 17 runs the game before, New Smyrna Beach was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They came up short against Bishop Moore, falling 13-2.
Jaclyn Betti was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.
Spruce Creek is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for New Smyrna Beach, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
New Smyrna Beach's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Spruce Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for New Smyrna Beach, though, as they've been averaging only 2.5 strikeouts. Will Spruce Creek keep running through batters, or will the Barracudas buck the trend?
