Baseball Game Preview: Canyon Crest Academy Ravens vs. Ramona Bulldogs

For the second straight game, Canyon Crest Academy will face off against Ramona. The Ravens will welcome the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Crest Academy has given up an average of 6.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Canyon Crest Academy's offense. They came up short against Ramona on Monday, falling 12-0. The Ravens have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

For Ramona's part, Jakob Coxen tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. Coxen has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Ramona let Derek Taylor and Blake Hollopeter run wild. Taylor went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run, while Hollopeter went 1-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Taylor has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Bedia, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.

Ramona kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Ramona has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 9-13-1.
