Savannah Holcomb was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Liv Keenan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Nina Ballachino was another key player, going 2-for-3 with four RBI and one run.
Midview was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Solon had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 8-5 win over Hudson on Wednesday.
Like Midview, Solon also got a great game from a two-way player: Kassidy Samuelraj. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Samuelraj was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Gerhard, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Ali Palsa, who went 3-for-5 with two runs.
Midview's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-8. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Solon, their victory bumped their record up to 5-12.
Solon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Midview has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.1 hits per game. It's a different story for Solon, though, as they've been averaging 10.2 hits. Given Midview's sizable advantage in that area, the Comets will need to find a way to close that gap.
