Baseball Game Preview: Oakton Cougars vs. St. Albans Bulldogs

The Oakton Cougars will face off against the St. Albans Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Oakton's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs every time they've taken the field this season.

Oakton barely beat West Potomac the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Oakton put the hurt on West Potomac with a sharp 17-2 victory on Wednesday. The win continues a trend for the Cougars in their matchups with the Wolverines: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, St. Albans faced Gonzaga in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. St. Albans fell 5-0 to Gonzaga. The defeat continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their meetings with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.

St. Albans got a good showing from Preston Benner, who struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Benner has posted since back in April of 2024.

On the hitting side, St. Albans saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caleb Kim, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Oakton's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for St. Albans, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
