Baseball Recap: Grayson County Comes Up Short

Grayson County lost against Auburn back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Blue Devils took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles. The matchup marked the Blue Devils' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Grayson County saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mac Goad, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI. Luke Stockner also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Grayson County has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-4 record this season. As for Auburn, their win was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-0.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Grayson County will face off against George Wythe at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Auburn, they will square off against Blacksburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Bruins' pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
