Softball Game Preview: Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans vs. Old Forge Blue Devils

Greater Nanticoke Area is 0-3 against Old Forge since April of 2022 but things could change on Saturday. The Trojans are taking a road trip to face off against the Blue Devils at 6:00 p.m. Greater Nanticoke Area has given up an average of 11.5 runs per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Greater Nanticoke Area fell victim to Lake-Lehman and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They came up short against the Knights, falling 16-0.

Meanwhile, Old Forge waltzed into their contest on Friday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They skirted past the Spartans 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since March 28th.

Kamryn Notari spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joselyn DeStefano was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. Another player making a difference was Ava Arnold, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

Greater Nanticoke Area's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Old Forge, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Greater Nanticoke Area hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Old Forge struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Greater Nanticoke Area suffered a grim 15-0 defeat to Old Forge when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
