Basketball Recap: Dior Carter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Academy of the New Church over George School

Academy of the New Church was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 78-72 heartbreaker at the hands of the George School Cougars. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (68), the Lions still had to take the loss.

Academy of the New Church's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dior Carter, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 boards. The dominant performance gave Carter a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cameron Smith, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points and five rebounds.
