Softball Recap: Tri-County Takes a Loss

Tri-County entered their matchup against Wild Rose on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Penguins lost 15-4 to the Wildcats. If the Penguins were looking for revenge after losing 14-13 to the Wildcats when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Tri-County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Rettler, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Addyson Rettler also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tri-County's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-2. As for Wild Rose, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-3.

Looking ahead, Tri-County will head out on the road to square off against Almond-Bancroft at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wild Rose, they will face off against Marion at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
