Basketball Preview: Thunder Basin Bolts vs. Central Indians
Thunder Basin has been on the road for four straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They and the Central Indians will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Thunder Basin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Saturday, Thunder Basin was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bison, taking the game 53-41.
Thunder Basin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Attie Westbrook, who scored five points along with ten steals and two blocks. It was the first time this season that Westbrook posted two or more blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooke Kendrick, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Central faced the Broncs in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Central enjoyed a cozy 48-34 win over the Broncs on Saturday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Central.
Thunder Basin's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-9. As for Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
Thunder Basin was able to grind out a solid win over the Indians in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 62-52. Does Thunder Basin have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
