Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Gabby Seikel and Lizzy Gould Lead Hayes to Victory

Hayes's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Westland Cougars with a sharp 3-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pacers in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now won four in a row.

Hayes not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Westland between 15 and 17 points across their sets. The final score came out to 25-17, 25-15, 25-15.

Hayes was led to victory by Lizzy Gould and Gabby Seikel. Gould had 13 digs and two aces, while Seikel had five digs and four assists. Gould is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last six games she's played. Maria Koci also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Hayes was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. They are 5-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

Hayes' record is now 7-12. As for Westland, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Hayes and Westland could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Pacers will face off against Marysville at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (362 vs. 175). Meanwhile, Westland (ranked 548th) will meet Big Walnut (ranked 72nd) at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
