Basketball Recap: Thunderridge Extends Winning Streak to Six

ThunderRidge had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.2 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They came out on top against the Mountain Vista Golden Eagles by a score of 66-58. For the Grizzlies, this counts as revenge for the 91-85 win the Golden Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in February of 2024.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead ThunderRidge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Drew Paine, who made all 6 shots he took for 15 points and seven boards. Paine is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Aman Binu, who made all 7 shots he took to post 16 points.

Cal Baskind and Oliver Junker certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Baskind posted 18 points and three steals, while Junker scored nine points and six rebounds. Carlos Arocho was another key player, putting up eight points and five assists.

ThunderRidge pushed their record up to 16-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.7 points over those games. As for Mountain Vista, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. ThunderRidge will face off against Douglas County at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. ThunderRidge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Douglas County likes a good challenge. As for Mountain Vista, they will take on Ralston Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Ralston Valley's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
