Baseball Recap: Combs Takes a Loss

Combs had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped down to 6-15-2 to make it four. They lost 13-1 to the ALA - Gilbert North Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 18-4 back in March.

Combs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angus Brumbaugh, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

As for ALA - Gilbert North, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-6 record this season. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten contests by six runs or more this season.

On ALA - Gilbert North's side, the team relied heavily on Tate Clarkson, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Diesel Lund, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Combs will take on Apache Junction at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. As for ALA - Gilbert North, they will square off against Alhambra at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
