Volleyball Recap: Mater Academy Charter Makes It 14 in a Row at Home

Mater Academy Charter lost to Hialeah back in March of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Monday. The Lions were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Thoroughbreds. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Lions.

Mater Academy Charter never let Hialeah on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The final score came out to 25-23, 25-17, 25-17.

Alex Rojas paced Mater Academy Charter's offense, picking up 13 kills. Rojas got some help from Jacob Victorero and his 17 assists. Finally, Erick Collazo kept Mater Academy Charter's defense grounded, leading the team with eight blocks.

Mater Academy Charter's victory was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4. As for Hialeah, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mater Academy Charter will face off against Somerset Academy Central Miramar at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions are facing the Warriors at the right time seeing as the Warriors are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Hialeah, they will take on Miami Springs at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
