Softball Recap: Firelands Takes a Loss

Firelands started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Edison. They fell 11-8 to the Chargers on Saturday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Chargers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 13-0 on Saturday.

Mckenzie Janosik and Helen Bolyard did some serious damage despite the final result: Janosik scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances, while Bolyard scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Janosik has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Aubrynn Reichle, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

This is the second loss in a row for Firelands and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Edison, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Firelands Falcons take on Monroeville Eagles at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Edison, they will face off against Columbian at 4:45 p.m. on Monday.
