Soccer Game Preview: West Johnston vs. C.B. Aycock

The West Johnston Wildcats are taking a road trip to challenge the C.B. Aycock Golden Falcons at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. West Johnston knows how to get goals on the board -- the squad has finished with four goals or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully C.B. Aycock likes a good challenge.

If West Johnston beats C.B. Aycock with ten goals on Monday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. West Johnston was the clear victor by a 10-1 margin over Smithfield-Selma on Friday. West Johnston haven't had any issues with Smithfield-Selma recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for C.B. Aycock's offense. They fell 2-0 to Fike on Friday. While losing is never fun, C.B. Aycock can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 269th, while Fike are ranked 132nd).

The win got West Johnston back to even at 4-4-1. As for C.B. Aycock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-5-1.

West Johnston came up short against C.B. Aycock in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, falling 2-0. Can West Johnston avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
