Softball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Tomales' Winning Streak

Tomales dropped their record down to 12-4 on Friday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Willits Wolverines, falling 10-0. The Braves were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the five contests prior), but the Wolverines' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Willits, the victory got them back to even at 8-8. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by ten runs or more this season.

For Willits' part, not much got past Lisa Arkelian, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Tomales off the board. Those 15 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Arkelian.

On the hitting side, Ava Holmen was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Addie Jones, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tomales will square off against Calistoga at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something the Braves surely won't give up without a fight. As for Willits, they will challenge Potter Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wolverines are facing the Bearcats at the right time seeing as the Bearcats are stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
