Enochs and Gregori are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Enochs Eagles will take on the Gregori Jaguars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Enochs is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.3 runs per game this season.
Enochs not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024. They blew past Pitman 7-1. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Pride recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.
Kaylee Ruiz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. That's the fewest hits she has allowed since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, Gabriela Alvarez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Audrey Sayers, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances.
Enochs hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in five consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Gregori was able to grind out a solid victory over Turlock on Tuesday, taking the game 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Jaguars.
Gregori let Kaliyah Mauia and Angelina Hoffman run wild. Mauia went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double, while Hoffman scored two runs while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance gave Mauia a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Audrey Pacheco, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Gregori pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.2 runs over those games. As for Enochs, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Enochs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Gregori struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Enochs came up short against Gregori in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, falling 7-4. Can Enochs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
