Football Recap: Winside Piles Up the Points Against Newman Grove/St. Edward

It was a proper cat-fight when Winside challenged Newman Grove/St. Edward on Friday. The Wildcats really took it to the Panthers for the full four quarters, racking up a 58-16 win. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Wildcats had established a 38-point advantage.

Jayden Aschoff was nothing short of spectacular: he threw for 118 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only ten passes, and also punched in two scores on the ground. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in passer rating (149.2). Another player making a difference was Jahiem Hamik, who rushed for 45 yards and one TD.

Although Newman Grove/St. Edward took the loss, they still got scores from Parker Fitchner and Beckett Jorgensen.

Winside now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Newman Grove/St. Edward, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Winside and Newman Grove/St. Edward will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wildcats are set to face off against their familiar foe Lyons-Decatur Northeast at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Newman Grove/St. Edward will challenge rival David City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
