Softball Recap: Window Rock Comes Up Short

Window Rock had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 7-11-1 to make it five. They came up short against the Mogollon Mustangs, falling 21-13. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-7 back in February.

As for Mogollon, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-11 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.5 runs over those games.

For Mogollon's part, AVA PLANTHOLT was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave PLANTHOLT a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of AUTUMN JONES, who went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Coming up, Window Rock will face off against St. Johns at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Scouts' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Redskins have averaged an impressive 10.4 runs per game this season. As for Mogollon, they will square off against Williams at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Mustangs will need to watch out since the Vikings have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
