Softball Recap: Bell County Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Bell County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 12-11 win over the Garrard County Golden Lions. While the Bobcats didn't have the best season last year (they finished 9-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Adyson Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over 8.2 innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off 12 hits. Scott was also big at the plate, going 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Tristan Saylor was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Kyliegh Allen was another key player, going 3-for-5 with two doubles, one stolen base, and one run.

Bell County pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Garrard County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bell County will take on Pike County Central at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. As for Garrard County, they will face off against Wolfe County at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.92 runs per game on average), something the Golden Lions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
