Baseball Recap: Newman Smith Takes a Loss

Newman Smith was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 10-0 to the Highland Park Scots, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Trojans of the 6-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Newman Smith's record now sits at 2-12. As for Highland Park, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.

Coming up, Newman Smith will welcome Hillcrest at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Panthers' pitching crew has only allowed 2.2 runs per game this season, so the Trojans' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Highland Park, they will venture away from home to challenge Reedy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Lions will roll in looking for their sixth straight victory, something the Scots surely won't give up without a fight.
