Basketball Recap: Burke Catholic Takes a Loss

Burke Catholic was the 37-25 winner over Eldred when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Burke Catholic took a hard 41-27 fall against the Eldred Yellowjackets on Thursday. Burke Catholic has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Eldred to victory were Olivia Gonzalez and Victoria Ryman. Gonzalez dropped a double-double on 15 points and 15 boards, while Ryman dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Gonzalez has scored at least a third of Eldred's points. Sydney Furler was another key player, putting up eight points along with six rebounds and six steals.

Burke Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Eldred, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 4-6.

Burke Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Eldred has already played their next match (against Fallsburg), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
