Baseball Recap: Albany Warriors vs. South Holt Knights
Albany had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped down to 9-10 to make it five. They fell just short of the South Holt Knights by a score of 4-2. The Warriors were not able to make up for their loss to the Knights from their previous meeting back in May of 2025.
Barrett Worrell put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Worrell was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Worrell wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Daulton Worrell, who went 1-for-4 with one run.
As for South Holt, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games.
Like Albany, South Holt also got a great game from a two-way player: Coltyn Fansher. Throwing, Fansher pitched two innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Meanwhile, Tycen Skeen kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2025. At the plate, Fansher went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Skeen went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Albany will square off against Penney at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for South Holt, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against North Platte at 5:00 p.m. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
