Baseball Game Preview: Addison Trail Blazers vs. Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs

The Addison Trail Blazers will take on the Berwyn/Cicero Morton Mustangs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Addison Trail is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Glenbard West just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They lost 10-3 to the Hilltoppers.

Jordan Ciezobka made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Meanwhile, Berwyn/Cicero Morton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They came up short against Oak Park-River Forest, falling 12-2.

Johangel Castrillo was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two doubles and two RBI. Those doubles were his first of the season.

Addison Trail's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Berwyn/Cicero Morton, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Addison Trail has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Berwyn/Cicero Morton struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Addison Trail took their victory against Berwyn/Cicero Morton when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blazers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
