Basketball Recap: Abilene Christian Takes a Loss

Abilene Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 54-25 defeat at the hands of the Fellowship Academy Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 915th, while the Mustangs are ranked 406th).

Rhyia Ray was her usual excellent self, putting up 18 points in addition to seven steals and six assists for Fellowship Academy. Ray is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Marks, who posted eight points and 14 boards.

Abilene Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Fellowship Academy, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 23-2.

Abilene Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Fellowship Academy, they are taking a road trip to take on DasCHE at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (DasCHE has won seven straight at home, while Fellowship Academy won 13 straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
