Basketball Game Preview: Mather Rangers vs. Chicago Academy Cougars

Mather and Chicago Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2015, but not for long. The Mather Rangers will welcome the Chicago Academy Cougars at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mather will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Last Friday, Mather strolled past Lake View with points to spare, taking the game 45-30. The Rangers pushed the score to 36-15 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wildcats cut but never quite recovered from.

Kayrhianna Jackson was her usual excellent self, going 12 of 28 on her way to 26 points and six steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Mather's points. Another player making a difference was Temi Yesufu, who went 6 for 8 en route to 13 points and four blocks.

Meanwhile, Chicago Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Schurz on Monday and fell 40-37.

Mather is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Chicago Academy, they now have a losing record at 6-7.

Mather strolled past Chicago Academy in their previous matchup back in November of 2023 by a score of 35-20. Does Mather have another victory up their sleeve, or will Chicago Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
