Basketball Recap: Mackinaw City Comes Up Short

If Mackinaw City was riding high fresh off their 68-29 takedown of Boyne Falls last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mackinaw City Comets took a blow against the Maplewood Baptist Academy Black Bears on Tuesday, falling 72-41. The Comets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Black Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Mackinaw City has also been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-10 record this season. As for Maplewood Baptist Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season.

Coming up, Mackinaw City will host Boyne Falls at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Maplewood Baptist Academy, they will head out to square off against North Michigan Christian Academy at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday.
