Softball Game Preview: Baldwin Park Braves vs. Mountain View Vikings

Baldwin Park is on a nine-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Mountain View a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Baldwin Park Braves will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mountain View Vikings at 3:30 p.m. Baldwin Park has given up an average of 17.6 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Baldwin Park is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Azusa by a score of 15-14 on Tuesday. While the Braves didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Aztecs 8-1 in the first period.

Baldwin Park got a massive performance out of Julia Arvizuv, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Arvizuv has snagged this season. Another player making a difference was Marissa Ramirez, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

The home team had come away the winner the last seven times Mountain View and El Monte had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Vikings fell 8-5 to the Lions on Friday. Vikings fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Lions since on Friday.

Baldwin Park's loss dropped their record down to 0-18. As for Mountain View, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Baldwin Park took their victory against Mountain View in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 10-1 score. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
