Basketball Recap: Plantation Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Plantation can now relate to. They fell 78-66 to the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Colonels can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 358th, while the Mavericks are ranked 175th).

Despite the loss, Plantation still got an impressive performance from Jabari Washington, who dropped a double-double with 26 points and 15 rebounds. The match was Washington's fifth in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Simon, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Archbishop McCarthy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Richard Segovia, who went 7 of 11 on his way to 18 points and five assists. Segovia also put up a block, which washis first of the season. Andrew Okafor was another key player, going 6 for 8 en route to 14 points and three blocks.

Plantation's defeat dropped their record down to 10-15. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-11 record this season.

Plantation does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, an 83-58 loss against Pembroke Pines Charter on the 7th.
